You’ve finished your first draft and you want to make sure the plot works, the characters are well developed and that you haven’t missed a gaping hole somewhere in the middle. You need a manuscript critique.
What's the process?
I will read through your full manuscript and provide a comprehensive editorial review based on its strengths and weaknesses, focusing on:
Plot and narrative flow
What do you get?
At the end, you receive 5–10 pages of feedback on your manuscript, in which I will flag any serious issues with your novel and where you can make improvements. You will also have the opportunity to discuss this feedback either on a call (max. 30 minutes) or via email.
The process should provide you with valuable insight into how you can take your novel to the next level and get it ready for querying to agents or further copy-editing.
Note, this service does not include copy-editing, however I may flag any consistent errors that I come across.
What does it cost?
50k–70k words = £210
71k–90k words = £270
91k–110k words = £330
111k–130k words = £390
For anything shorter than 50k or longer than 130k, drop me an email and I can provide a quote.
If you hire me for a full manuscript critique, you are eligible for a 10% discount on copy-editing and proofreading services for the same novel.
Click the button below to request a manuscript critique. I will get in touch to discuss the terms and send you a questionnaire. This will help me understand your manuscript and what you’d like to get out of the critique.
Once you’ve completed the questionnaire and paid the 50% non-refundable deposit, you can send me your full manuscript and I'll get to work. Full critiques usually take about two weeks.
After I’ve sent the feedback document and the final invoice, we can arrange a date and time for a call to go over the notes (or we can do this via email if you prefer). Please allow enough time to fully review the feedback before booking your call to get the most out of it.
