What is an Editorial Consultation?

Maybe you've written the first few chapters of your manuscript and you have a rough idea of where you want to take the rest of the story, but before you commit to writing the full novel, you'd like some guidance on whether you're heading in the right direction.

For a consultation, I read through your opening pages and any additional materials you have, such as chapter breakdown/synopsis/outline (maximum 20k words total), then we'll set up a 1-hour call to go over my feedback on the materials, discuss your plans for the book, and figure out the next steps for getting you moving towards a full first draft.

 

What does it cost?

The cost for a consultation depends on how much reading you would like me to do before the call. I charge a rate of £45 per hour, and can review, on average, 5,000 words an hour. For example, that means an editorial consultation on a total of 20,000 words would cost £225.​
